En Primeur 2020: our overall impressions of the vintage.
Like last year, the Castel Grands Crus team has come together to taste over 250 samples, in order to provide you with our overall impression of the vintage.
Discover our first impressions of a more than promising 2020 below:
"Since 2018, we have enjoyed a succession of three remarkable vintages. This is a blessing not only for Bordeaux, but also for fine wine enthusiasts everywhere."
Regarding the region’s dry white wines, a warm weather vintage led many to fear a certain lack of freshness and vivacity. However, the presence of water reserves in the soil, especially at properties with chalky-clay soils, has made for some pleasant, tender, balanced wines. The Sauvignons have maintained their acidity, and the Sémillons are highly aromatic.
As for the reds, the vintage is generally powerful, structured and balanced, with some remarkable successes."
