This 4th Growth Cru Classé is blessed with an exceptional deep gravel terroir, with clay-rich subsoil that provides particularly excellent conditions for Cabernet-Sauvignon, the varietal most readily associated with fine wines from the Bordeaux region. Inaugurated in 2017, the new cellars are perfectly adapted to the vineyard’s plot-selection, allowing each terroir to reveal its depth and complexity to the fullest extent.
Throughout its history, Château Beychevelle has reflected the elegance and finesse of the Saint-Julien appellation. Graceful, complex and exceptionally rich, Château Beychevelle is the result of rigorous selection from the property’s finest plots. It reaches its full potential after ten years, and can be kept for several decades depending on the vintage.
Amiral de Beychevelle, the property’s second wine, was born out of the property’s rigorous selection process. Although it is made largely from younger vines, Amiral de Beychevelle is subject to the same cultivation practices, meticulous sorting and traditional barrel-aging as the property’s eponymous first wine. Slightly quicker to reveal its youthful, exuberant character, it nevertheless offers the same elegance and finesse that is characteristic of the property’s first wine.
Aspirant de Beychevelle, an on-trade exclusive, is the château’s latest release. Grown and bottled on site, this accessible wine nonetheless demonstrates the property’s characteristic finesse. Produced in small quantities, Aspirant de Beychevelle is available from the 2016 vintage, the first to be produced at Beychevelle’s new cellars.
